Lived Experience Peer Support Guides

Our Lived Experience Peer Support Guides help conversations happen earlier when someone may be struggling. They are not counsellors or therapists. Their role is to listen, reduce stigma, and guide colleagues to the right support either within your business or externally, before problems escalate into crisis.

Why they matter

Many workplace challenges build quietly, caused by mental health pressures, financial stress, addiction, or personal difficulties. The people who spend their days together are more likely to notice changes.

Our Lived Experience Peer Support Guides help businesses:

  • Encourage earlier conversations
  • Reduce stigma around asking for help
  • Identify problems before they affect safety, wellbeing or performance
  • Guide colleagues to the right support quickly.

The Support Guide Certification Programme

The Support Guide Certification Scheme is a pioneering, industry-first training programme that focuses on mental health  support, wellbeing and improving workplace resilience for businesses.

A Support Guide acts as an approachable first point of contact for someone who could be struggling at work or in their personal life.

They are not counsellors or mental health professionals, but people equipped with the skills to recognise when someone might need support, start and safe and appropriate conversation, and signpost colleagues, friends and family towards further help when needed.

Participants will develop practical, lifelong skills that can be used every day, learning to listen, communicate sensitively, and gaining a complete understanding of topics such as:

— Understanding BS 30480L Suicide and the Workplace
— BS 30416: Menstrual Health and Menopause in the Workplace
— Mental Health First Aid England training
— Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
— Crisis Escalation and Safeguarding
— Lived Experience Peer Support
— Self-care and Workplace resilience.

Training is delivered both online and in person, in distinct modules spread over an eight-day course.
